Pheedo Announces RSS Analytics Service

Pheedo, a blog and RSS ad network has officially unveiled its RSS analytics service. A beta version of the analytics product was offered six months ago for limited advertisers and publishers.

FeedBurner, who has been offering RSS analytics, announced a new ad network last week. As Pheedo joining the analytics market, things will begin to roll as each company tries to secure their place in the target market. We should expect to see even more rapid development in this RSS metrics area.

MarketingStudies.net, having some exclusive screenshots on how Pheedo’s service look like reported that currently the metrics include: daily circulation, feed item activity, advertising stats, feed reader stats and number of requests for the feed.

Media Post reported some interesting findings directly from Bill Flitter, Pheedo’s founder and vice president, marketing:

One finding to come out of the testing is that RSS ads between 200 and 250 characters appear to be more effective than either shorter or longer ads. When ads are smaller, Flitter said, they don’t provide enough information; more characters, and they detract from the editorial content.

Pheedo also found that ads got higher click-throughs as stand-alones than when they came after content in feeds. But, Flitter said, publishers resist serving ads by themselves in RSS feeds.
