Quick Review: Serence KlipFolio RSS Dashboard

Serence KlipFolio is a piece of software that can turn your computer desktop into virtual news dashboard. It has been available since a few years ago but now finally added RSS feature, properly named RSS Dashboard.

Serence KlipFolio RSS Dashboard is completely configurable, skinnable and scrollable web feeds module for the main application. Current version 2.6 and 3.0 beta are available for download at their website.

Although the product carries the RSS name in it, the module handles RSS, Atom and RDF syndication format. The software is available in both Windows 2000 and XP. They plan to release a MacOS version in the future. Serence offers the software for free download, although they do charge for other services like Klip Statistics, Klip Bundling and Klip Positioning.

The RSS Feed Viewer allows you to display feeds as headlines and descriptions as hover pop-ups. You can set webfeed update schedule, alert new items based on keywords and customize the number of headlines, font sizes, icons and others.

With support for more than 30 languages and the small memory footprint, I think it is a good application to add to your desktop. Try it out, but beware of the additional distractions it can add to your busy schedule. Make sure you minimize it during productive hours.
